While limited targeted attacks are being reported on Microsoft Exchange servers, Microsoft is already aware and investigating two reported zero-day vulnerabilities affecting mainly on-premises Microsoft Exchange Servers including Exchange Server 2013, Exchange Server 2016, and Exchange Server 2019. The two vulnerabilities reported are:

CVE-2022-41040: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability

CVE-2022-41082: Allows Remote Code Execution (RCE) when PowerShell is accessible to the attacker.

Are you already affected with Zero-Day Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server?

As a first step you immediately have to verify if you are already affected or not and you can do that through below PowerShell command:

Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Path C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles -Filter “*.log” | Select-String -Pattern ‘powershell.*autodiscover\.json.*\@.*200’

MachSol recommends that customers already using On-premise Exchange should follow Microsoft recommendations. In addition, MachPanel: MachSols leading automation solution for Enterprises, Governments and Cloud Service Providers for Multi-Cloud service delivery immediately responded to reported vulnerability and issued a hotfix to mitigate the threat. All existing customers of MachPanel can simply apply the hotfix which will disable the Remote PowerShell for all new Users and for existing users, they simply have to trigger Security permissions to disable the Remote PowerShell.

How Hosted Exchange service providers can stay Secure:

With the rising Cyber-attacks, it is very important for all Exchange On-premise admins to ensure you have your infrastructure updated to latest security patches and releases and on top of that stay connected with Microsoft security response center updates specially Microsoft Security blog.

Effects of Zero-Day attacks on Microsoft Exchange On-premise market and importance of a reliable Service Delivery Partner:

It is important to note that Microsoft online services are not affected by latest vulnerabilities and while on-premise market is already facing an uphill challenge to compete Microsoft, such attacks will further hamper their effort to stay in the competition. But if you have a service delivery partner with an up-to-date solution and takes all necessary actions to immediately respond to such threats, then you are always on a secure side. MachPanel is industry leading Cloud automation solution that has been servicing Enterprises, Cloud service providers and Governments for decades and ensure you are able to offer your hosted services securely.

Offer Multi-tenant -Secure- Reliable Exchange offerings with MachPanel Automation Module for Exchange:

Cross forest migration refers to Exchange mailboxes migration amongst Active Directories. Companies often opt for such a migration when a cross Domain functionality is required i.e. Microsoft Exchange deployment is needed on a new Domain. This is a tedious process, where there is a lot of command line handling and PowerShell scripts that may result in data loss, if not handled properly. Thus, the whole procedure needs to be done by experts who know their work.

MachPanel enables Smart Cross Forest Migration where Exchange mailboxes are migrated from Exchange servers in one forest to Exchange servers in other forests. It requires a Migration Exchange with Settings, Properties and Permissions of Exchange identities. It is best done with a Solution for Cross forest migration. In reality, moving mailboxes in the Exchange Server amongst Active Directories is quite a Task to do.

In this short how-to guide, we explain how this process can be done effectively with MachPanel.

Step 1: Check your stats

The initial page for Mailbox migration displays all the stats that exist for existing batches and Mailboxes. This is the dashboard that will show you the changes after you perform the migrations successfully.

Step 2: Define the End points

Before you start migrating the mailboxes, the endpoints have to be configured. So in this section, you’ll need to define your source and destination endpoints. The configuration details include Endpoint name, Domain name Source mailbox email address and admin login details.

Step 3: Migrate in Batches

One smart way of performing migrations is to migrate in batches. This way, the overall migration process is divided into phases and the process is performed seamlessly. For this, you need to Add batches, select users for the batches and update the batch options. As a best practice, one must notify the users whose names are included in the next batch.

Step 4: Complete the Migration

Now is the time to carry out the migration. With a state-of-the-art Solution for Cross Forest Exchange Migration, you can see the stats of Exchange migration amongst Active Directories in real-time.

Microsoft Exchange is adopted by most enterprises these days as the mainstream tool for business email and collaboration. Since it is one of the most popular email management business productivity tools of this age, businesses are creating more data than ever that is accessible anywhere anytime.

Cloud Data is Your Responsibility

Whether you are making the shift to the Cloud or setting up the on-premises infrastructure, the responsibility to backup data for later recovery lies with the enterprise. Same is the case for Email data. Thus, it is your IT staff’s responsibility to keep track of backups and retrieve data whenever it is required.

Here are 5 reasons why an email backup solution is necessary and why your organization should go for it.

         Email us a Ransomware Target

The popularity of Exchange makes it a good target for hacktivists to carry out ransomware attacks within the organization. Mailbox ransomware targets Exchange users and asks for ransom at the cost of their emails and data in email. A good backup will save your organization from huge ransom.

         Accidental Deletion is Real

No matter how secure you make your on-perm setup, there is no cure to accidental Deletion. A good Exchange data backup solution lets you recover your lost email data in case of accidently deleting any important files.

         Accounts can be compromised

For enterprises, there is nothing worse than a compromised account which is a gateway to sensitive business and financial information. In case of a compromised account, especially if the account is a privileged one, the results can be catastrophic for the organization. If the person behind the scene deletes something, the data cannot be recovered absolutely.

Inactive users can be very costly

In case of those employees who have left the organization, it is essential to have a backup of their email and data in case it is needed in the future. Once the backup is taken, the account must be deleted. In case you miss this, you might have to pay for their account license, which can be very costly.

         IT fosters business continuity plan

In this time of uncertainty, businesses always go for a business continuity plan in order to keep moving in case of a catastrophic hit. Keeping a backup of emails is one way you can keep track of your data while in case of a disaster.

From a Cloud expert’s point of view Shifting to Exchange Online requires major planning before execution. For exchange users, there are many Providers out there which plan migrations for you and provide after migration support too. Either it is “lift-and-shift” or deep cloud integration, it is always essential to know the exact details of shifting to Exchange Online and how it can affect your organization. Today, we are going to tell you three essential features that you must utilize for your company once you have opted for Exchange 2019 online migration.

Office 365 plans for Exchange Online

If you plan to migrate to Exchange Online anytime soon, you must take into account one of the office 365 subscription plan from a list of plans provided by Microsoft. Every Exchange Online user is assigned to some subscription plan. Plans like Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business, Office 365 Business Premium, Office 365 Enterprise E1, Office 365 Enterprise E3, Office 365 Enterprise F1 and Office 365 Enterprise E5 are offered with multiple options according to your cloud business needs. Once you subscribe to a plan, you get access to your own mailbox. All the messages and folders in your mailbox are now hosted at Exchange Server running at Microsoft datacenter.

Exchange Web Services (EWS)

This is another feature to look forward to while shifting to Exchange Online. Exchange Web Services (EWS) is a reliable API for working with mailbox content. This API has many benefits over other APIs. Like it has its own personation model which favors the developers while utilizing this API. EWS is also language independent. It’s got almost all features necessary for client applications, therefore it is quite robust.

Microsoft Exchange Public Folders

Information sharing is essential in every system. When shifting to Exchange Online, you will experience more control over information sharing. The Public Folders feature is designed to achieve information sharing in a streamlined manner. It makes Outlook users access common folders and share information from these folders. Access on Public folders can be controlled by Admins as they can assign permissions. With Microsoft Exchange Public Folders, you can:

Make use of Mail-enabled Public Folders

Have separate folders for each project to stay more organized

Create custom templates for automatic replies

Make calendars and track your team’s progress

Add permissions to each folder and many more

MachPanel Automation module for Exchange Server

MachPanel is a Multi-Cloud Service Orchestration & Delivery Platform (MSOP) designed to provide you with best business automation solution for your cloud business. MachPanel’s Automation module for Exchange offers standalone, highly available or multi-datacenter Exchange deployments and makes provisioning, management, selling and billing much simpler for your cloud business.

For a successful cloud business, automation and security are the two main features to look for. Providers wish to invest in areas where there is a faster time to market and SaaS solutions that favor the enterprises. It is quite the norm that businesses harness the power of collaboration. Microsoft has put in efforts to facilitate providers and Hosters in this domain with its solutions like Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Skype for Business, Microsoft SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Hyper-V etc.

With hybrid and hosted service being more popular than on-perm solutions, it is a common notion that on-perm is dead in near future but in reality: it is not. On-premises solutions are there to stay. In fact, Microsoft is putting more efforts to benefit Hosting Service Providers through its Microsoft Enterprise Software’s.

Let’s have a look at and Microsoft Enterprise software’s can facilitate your Hosting cloud Business.

Microsoft Exchange

When it comes to Microsoft Exchange, decision to take on-premises is initially supported for organization that is not ready for cloud solutions. On-site Exchange gives the hosters complete control over their applications and stored data. It also gives you flexibility for the integration with third party tools and apps. Features such as configuring emails for different systems or getting notifications for customer relationship management apps are there to stay and that makes Exchange a powerful on-premises setup.

Microsoft Skype for Business

For business communication, Skype for business Server is the most popular tool in the IT space. Microsoft has yet taken it to a next level by giving it Enterprise grade features. Not only the communication is reliable it is also secure and cross-platform compatible. In addition to that, a complete Voice Integration feature is there in the Skype for business server. All these benefits are both for on-perm users too including Cloud Voicemail and management of this voicemail options for your cloud business.

Microsoft SharePoint

Most of the feature of Microsoft SharePoint Online and on-premises are similar. However, there are a few benefits that only on-premises users can enjoy. For example, Data security and compliance, which is essential for cloud business, are much higher in case of on-perm. Hosters have full control over performance and can ensure 99.9% uptime. The initial investment costs are one-time and the options are fully customizable. There is always the option to migrate to Online when you are fully ready. However, with on-perm solution, you have full access to Windows/SQL servers. The bandwidth is also customizable since it is based on the internal network bandwidth.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is undoubtedly the most trusted and efficient CRM solution in the IT space. The flexibility and innovation provide the users with more value. Employees can access quickly and market efficiently. With an on-premises Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment, you get the benefits of greater control, reduced long-term ownership payments, the data is controlled physically within the organization, the company is able to comply with external requirements like requirements imposed from Governments. Apart from that, accessibility is not dependent on a bandwidth connection. Overall, it cuts down your costs in the long term and requires one-time investments only. All these features make Dynamics CRM on-premises popular with Hoster and it is there to stay for longer.

Are you a busy business executive who does not have the time but needs emails to be managed, meeting dates to be noted and contacts to be organized? Is hiring a personal assistant a load on the budget? Microsoft Exchange 2013 is the solution to all administrative problems. Not only does it manage your contacts, it makes sure that all your online and offline systems are in sync and all the important dates regarding your business are noted down.
One of the greatest new features of Microsoft Exchange 2013 is that through the Exchange Administrative Center (EAC) that is Web-based interface, the Exchange Management Console (EMC) can be replaced with it quite easily. Apart from that, huge storage is available. Around 8 TB (terabytes) disks can be supported and a lot of databases can be stored on a single disk through Data Availability Group (DAG) management.
Not only that, Microsoft Exchange 2013 also has a built in protection system that guards against malware. It has flexible settings and so can be managed according to the needs of the administrators. If need be, this protection system can be turned off as well. One of the biggest problems associated with data is losing it. This new version of Exchange incorporates a system that helps in the prevention of data loss. So, if you have sensitive data, the program will detect it and secure it.
A system that protects against malware secures sensitive data and offers huge amount of storage is likely to be ideal. Since contact management is so important, extracting information of one person from different sources is quick and easy. Microsoft Exchange 2013 also comes with a new look which is more adaptable and so allows the user to modify it as he or she wishes. Integration with different Microsoft programs allows collaboration and makes this process a whole lot easier.
With its many new features and countless benefits, Microsoft Exchange is the program to look out for, especially if you have a business with a lot of emails and contacts that need to be organized.

Microsoft Exchange is one of the many software applications that have been developed By Microsoft to make functionality a lot easier in business. Microsoft Exchange, or Microsoft Exchange Server, is software that acts as an email server, a contact manager and a calendar keeper. This is ideal for businesses since businesses require a system through which they can gather contact information, manage important emails and keep track of important dates. Microsoft Exchange 2013 is the latest version to have hit the market.

It has many new features. One of the new features is the automatic syncing that takes place between emails, contacts and calendar entries on different PC’s or devices. It facilitates you in a way; the next time you connect with internet, all the updates or changes will automatically be synced. On the other hand in Exchange Server 2013, SharePoint documents and Microsoft Exchange emails can be incorporated and brought together. Different documents can then be managed together and the whole process of organization is made a lot easier.

The user interface in Exchange 2013 is also designed quite efficiently so that it is compatible with desktops, tablets and phones at the same time. Regardless of the browser you are using on any of the three devices, it will function in the same manner. Apart from that, various applications are available through the Microsoft Office store and these applications can be downloaded to customize the whole email experience. The program has been revamped to make it extremely user friendly and compatible with all types of phones, desktops and tablets. Ease of use and convenience is the biggest benefit. Customization is also a value-added feature since it allows the user to work in the manner that he or she prefers. Automatic syncing also leads to the benefit of reduced hassle of making sure that all the files that are online are available offline as well and vice versa.

Clearly, the new Microsoft Exchange 2013 has been programmed to serve the needs of its busy users, which it is undoubtedly successful in doing.
