The All new Microsoft Office 365 API editor is announced to facilitate developers in working with Exchange Online including different Microsoft Exchange Versions. This API is also beneficial for developers who work with Office 365 applications. This editor sends relevant API calls. There are two modes that are beneficial for the developers and given through Microsoft Support: Editor Mode and Mailbox View Mode.

The best thing about this API Editor is that it is open source and available on Github. There is no paid Microsoft support specifically for Office 365 API developers. Engineers at Microsoft and Github community users are the best support for developers who fall into any issue with this API Editor.

The Requirements

There are a few basic requirements to get started in working with Office 365 API Editor. The developer has to have am Office 365 account or a simple Microsoft Account. The developer system must have a .NET framework 4.5 or later. In order for development to work on Office 365 API Editor Developer must have a system of minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768. After fulfilling these requirements, you can use Office 365 API Editor.

If a built in app-id is being used, there is no need to register application in the Azure Active Directory or Application Registration Portal. Both managed and federate accounts can be used as office 365 accounts. For federated accounts, there is a need to enable Forms Authentication. However, if you opt for managed accounts, you’ll experience a simple authentication flow.

The Two Modes

A diverse Microsoft support is provided to Office365APIEditor is immense. There is support for Microsoft Graph API, Outlook REST API and Office 365 Management Activity API.

Editor mode

In editor mode, there is Microsoft support to send API requests to Graph API (graph.microsoft.com), REST API (outlook.office.com) and Office 365 Management Activity API (manage.office.com). If the developer isn’t using built-in application ID, an App ID registered in Azure Active Directory can be used to get access token.

Mailbox view mode

The default view is the Mailbox view. This displays mailbox contents browsing using Outlook REST API. The mailbox must be hosted on Exchange Online or Outlook.com and you must have access to it. In this view, older, items, and mailbox properties can be displayed.

For Calendar and Tasks Folders, Outlook REST API doesn’t possess a folder hierarchy. Calendar groups and Tasks groups are considered under a dummy root folder. Mail and Contact details are shown under MsgFolderRoot.

The wait is finally over and all the Microsoft Enthusiasts can now get their hands on the new Microsoft Exchange Server 2019.

The final release is available to download form Volume Licensing Service Center. The latest release of Microsoft Exchange Server has been designed to deliver attributes that the valued on-premise exchange online customers expected the most. These features are: improved performance and improved administration, security and management capabilities.

The new and improved search technology and scalability improvements have been highlighted. Its architecture has improved with the feature of security in mind. Further, the failovers are made more reliable, connectivity is simplified and calendar man agent is made easier. Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 supports EAI/ IDN email routing and uses Windows Server Core with less code churn with more stability. All these features are ultimately delighting the end users and Microsoft enthusiast even more.

Here is a detailed overview of the key features of Microsoft Exchange Online:

Security

It is recommended to install on Windows Server 2019 Core to use Microsoft Exchange Server 2019. However, the basic requirement for latest release of Microsoft Exchange is Windows Server 2019, hence providing the right level of security that the system need in todays’ demanding security requirements. Together Windows Server Core and MS Exchange makes the most secure platform for you to work. Further, the latest build of Exchange Server uses only TLS 1.2 out of the box, plus all the legacy ciphers along with hashing algorithms to remove any chance of security compromise.

End-user Experience

Microsoft Exchange Server is heavily used for calendaring and hence large enterprises are immensely dependent on slandering to proceed with their proceedings. A new feature of calendar is introduced in MS Exchange 2019 that is the restricting the forwarding of a meeting request. It also provides better control over OOF settings. A few such new calendaring features are there for Administrators too like managing events in users’ calendars and assigning delegate permissions with much ease-of-use for Microsoft Exchange Online users.

The feature of Unified messaging is deprecated in Microsoft Exchange Server 2019. Customers connecting a third-party PBX or Skype for Business Server with Exchange Server are not able to continue this with Microsoft Exchange Server 2019. As an alternate, Microsoft provides such communication to customers with Skype for Business Server 2019 and using Cloud Voicemail or with Microsoft Office 365 with Cloud Voicemail.

Performance Improvements

Major performance improvements in the latest release of Exchange Server are faster search, using improved Bing technology which provides better results in exchange online, easier administration easier and database failovers have been made much faster. The latest Solid State Drive (SSD) technology is used to add dual storage read/write capabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server 2019. Database caching is improved in order to allocate more memory to active databases and their copies for faster loading. More number of users can be scaled up per user with larger disks and client operations latency reduced to half. With this release, Microsoft Exchange Server can now use 48 processor cores and a total of 256GB of RAM.

MachPanel and Automation Module for Microsoft Exchange

MachPanel is Microsoft Validated Exchange Control Panel, where you find trusted support for Microsoft Exchange 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010.

With the era of the new release of Microsoft Exchange approaching fast, it is high time we should mention what is expected of the new Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 release especially for on-premises users.

It has been seen that Microsoft follows a pattern of first releasing new features for Exchange Online before the features are introduced in Exchange on-premises in a later release or frequent upgrade for the on premises users. This year again, the much anticipated features for on-premise users are about to be previewed towards the mid of 2018 and will be finally released in the latest Microsoft Exchange 2019 towards the end of 2018. This release is expected to depict improvements in four different areas: Security, Manageability, Usability and Compliance.

Let’s have a look at what the upcoming features of Exchange 2019 are. All the features listed below revolve around the aforementioned four basic domains of improvement in MS Exchange.

Protocol improvements

The improved MAPIhttp protocol will prevail in the next release of Exchange 2019. It is also supported by all Outlook Clients. It means that the deprecated feature from last release, RPC-over-HTTP shall be removed in the upcoming release as it is needless now.

Scalability

Scalability has been a focus of this release as mentioned in the Exchange 2019 preview. The scalability of public folders is also expected in this release. However, feature wise there are no such expectations amongst public folders.

Migration

As provided in the previous versions of Exchange Server, Migrations are expected to be seamless in this release as well. A capability to migrate from Exchange Sever 2013 or 2016 side-by-side is expected to see in future.

Cross premises challenges

Challenges like delegates, sharing of calendar and events between Exchange Online and Exchange on-premises need to be catered and Exchange 2019 is expected to show some improvements in this domain.

What is NOT EXPECTED?

Groups

It is analyzed that the feature of Office 365 Groups is not, in the long run, going to be a beneficial feature for Exchange Server clients. So the introduction of Groups for a cross-collaborative on-premises experience is not expected in this release. Groups are a thing of the cloud and only then they can be beneficial, the feature can stay with Exchange Online but not on-premises.
